Not easy to learn new skills

My new blue kayak arrived today
So big, so sleek, so free.
She’s going to help me sail down river, then
out to sea
Into the water she glides with ease as the
paddles dip and raise.
Little by little, bit by bit, I look around me to
gaze.
The water is silky, so smooth, so still a place of calm, of sheer wonder
When, all of a sudden, the craft capsizes,
I curse my foolish blunder.Back on the bank I shiver, I shake, wet clothes
soaked through to the skin,
but my lovely blue kayak sits safe by my side
despite the pickle I’m in.
It’s clear to me now, I’ve so much to learn
before I can paddle with pride.
For my new blue kayak will cradle me well as
back onto the water I glide.
