Wake Up – It’s Spring!
Come away and fly with me,
Dandelion floating in a wish filled breeze,
Beneath the morning sun stretching out its rays,
Mirroring baby animals starting their brand new days,
I see you yawn and rub your eyes,
As you look for shapes in cloud painted skies,
Trees shake away the last of winter,
As eggs peek-a-boo in nests of splinters,
Everybody feels reenergised,
Opening their windows to a sunshine surprise,
Mown lawn aromas and picked-berry pies,
In April showers they don’t feel cold, but alive,
Shall we wake up the daffodils too?
Tap on their petals then watch them bloom,
Dance away with butterflies,
These once caterpillars giving their wings a try,
It must be starting to get warm,
For hibernating animals start to playfully swarm,
A new Gardener is planting seeds,
Those of flowers, and of dreams,
Like the aeroplanes overhead,
I’m coming down to land in my grassy bed,
And to a bird song lullaby,
I dream of how I’ll grow this Springtime.
