A Spring in my Step

Dancing daffodils, crocuses, and tulips I see through my kitchen window’s frame.
Snowdrops put on a lovely show.
A sparrow, robin, and a couple of blackbirds come down for some seed I’ve just put out.
A pair of pigeons, belonging to Derek down the road, join in; the other birds fly away.
Today, I have bought a bird table and bath; perhaps I shall hang the nuts on the side.
I hide my mobile and leave the video recording.
Lording over all, the robin comes back, and so does the sparrow.
My garden was being judged for the Best Kept Spring Garden.
At the Spring Show, there was Charlie from next door and Phyllis a couple of doors down.
Third place goes to Phyllis, second to me, and first to Charlie.
Our portrait graced the pages of the local Gazette the following week, etching our shared triumphs in nature’s springtime symphony.
