Christmas

‘Christmas Castle

Somewhere once upon a Dream,
Beside a glistening chocolate stream,
Just like a fairy tale storybook scene,
Lies a castle made of most-magical things,

Walk along the clouds – see if you can find,
An ornate gate of red candy caned lines,
And if your heart is kind and true,
They may just open up for you,

Where dandelion wishes fall,
And get absorbed into the walls,
Which grows new turrets, and towers, and trees,
And extends Santa’s list by another couple of feet,

Finest gingerbread architecture,
Grand and golden in its splendour,
Its ceilings hold gum drop chandeliers,
Which beam out rainbows that last hundreds of years,

No surface is left bare,
(There’s literally teddies everywhere!),
There is no darkness in our sight,
Even in the shadows-there is light,

Presents are stacked up to higher skies,
So tall you won’t believe your eyes,
Old portraits adorned with tinsel,
Festive ornaments cover the windowsill,

Memories of Christmas past,
Come here so that they can dance,
Every cracker joke gets a laugh,
A place where snowmen can ever last,

A vintage sleigh awaits take-off,
You can hear the Elves finishing in the workshop,
There is change within the air,
Stroke all of the friendly Reindeer,

Maybe when you awake on Christmas morn,
Last night’s trip will be lost in a yawn,
But don’t forget you hold the key,
To the Christmas Castle you have to believe to see.
