Christmaspoem

Winter glow

Snow cascading down under moonlight,
Painting the earth below ice white,
Where people rush in last minute plight,
Because it’s Christmas Eve tonight,

Each home lit like a light house beacon,
Colours and characters warming the cold season,
Inside the fire so cosy can’t be beaten,
Glowing on every surface festive crimson,

The tree stands proud in tinsel dress,
Rainbow lights twinkling their best,
Reflecting stars into baubles excess,
All this magic is bound to impress,

Presents wait wrapped and ready,
Shimmering patterns like confetti,
Wish we could open them already,
But time is passing slow and steady,

Glasses misting with each glug,
Of hot chocolate from a special mug,
That makes you feel Christmassy and snug,
Dog waits for Santa curled up on rug,

Outside the window, leave this holiday scene,
Icicles have formed on everything,
You can still hear robins sing,
And I’m sure I heard sleigh bells ring!

With rosy cheeks and a hearty laugh,
Flying through Christmases present and past,
A certain reindeer’s nose aglow,
Lighting up through the falling snow.
