April Days
This is my favourite time of year
For summer days will soon be here
The days now longer, the weathers fine
Its daylight now til nearly nine.
The garden dug and some seeds sown
The lawns all edged and neatly mown.
Out walking today the joys its bringing
The sun on my back and the birds all singing
The muddy fields now firm and dry
The clouds have cleared, we have blue sky.
Admiring the view up at Lone Ash
you cannot buy that scene with cash.
The hum of traffic far away
On distant M5 motorway.
The Blackthorn flowering white abounds
Decorate the hedgerows all around.
The cows returned to graze the fields
To give the farmer his daily yield.
The birds are busy building nest
And never stop to take a rest.
These wondrous visions that we see
Inspire the poet inside of me.
Yes, I could walk these hills for hours
And hope I dodge the April showers.
Spring meadow flowers popping up
Dandelion and buttercup.
The bluebells too are looking fine
Mixed with clover and celandine.
The butterflies and bees abound
And skylarks nesting on the ground.
Its good to just stand and admire
These views of which we never tire.
