Spring Forward
WINTER PAUSE:
Coiled up all warm and tight,
Hidden from harsh winter’s bite,
Sleeping soundly in hibernation,
Preparing with such dedication,
Icy snow starts to melt away,
The gears start moving again,
A new tune begins to play,
As I turn the wheel to a new day,
Any minute now I’m sure,
A whole season will burst out the door,
Can you hear the yawns? – it’s waking up,
Goodbye winter – you’ve done enough,
One.
More.
Turn…
SPRING FORWARD:
Out of a jack-in-the-box it soars,
Daffodils and fresh green moors,
Buzzy bees, bird nests in trees,
Sky as blue as sun warmed seas,
Sunflowers stretch towards the light,
Now awakened from eternal night,
Floral scents mix with chocolate eggs,
And clean laundry hung up on pegs.
Daisies link like delicate chains,
Forming tiaras of fairy fame,
Fluffy rabbits hop as high as they can,
Kites and bubbles passing them.
Sparkling streams lead the way,
Sunlit shadows come out to play,
Ladybirds and butterflies,
Visit picnics as they fly,
April showers and rainbow ribbons,
No longer cold but now refreshing,
Seeds are now starting to sprout,
To cheers and excited shouts,
Box now empty soon finds a home,
Creatures resting from the sun,
Then humans use it for summer play,
Where it becomes a ship, rocket, or secret hideaway!
