The Great Outdoors

During my Duke of Edinburgh Awards I learnt how to make a fire.
Admired how quickly my friend’s sticks worked within a couple of minutes; whilst
mine must have been damp.
Set up camp for the next 3 nights. Every sound I could hear, hoping to get some
much-needed sleep.
Keep out the creepy crawlies and zip up my tent.
Recent times I can say I prefer my own bed at home instead.
Dread the dark and remind myself, I’m going for gold.
Hold onto everything and I grin and bear it.
Lit up with my torch and I can hear the kettle whistling and a cup of tea is made.
Displayed a lovely presentation of my stay in the woods.
Good times and such an experience I shall never forget.
Let others know how it is done. No mobile phone or television; there’s so much to
learn.
Return home and have a bath and an early night.
Might go for a walk in the morning and take my dog.
A blanket of fog covered the village and I remained inside and sat by the radiator.
