Megan Paul’s virtual Creative Writing session
I really appreciated Megan Paul’s Creative Writing session as part of FestivALL. Not only is she a great tutor, inclusive of all abilities and experiences, she makes it fun, showing how powerful being playful with words is to bringing out creativity.
I really enjoyed the session, and found myself engaging more than I anticipated as Megan drew us all in with her contagious enthusiasm and non-judgmental facilitation. The second half was a little more reflective as she encouraged us to write a letter to someone we hadn’t seen for a while. Participants were really generous with their vulnerability in what they shared. I was touched and it gave a taste of how practicing creative writing can be good for our well being.
I know several people who have been frightened off having a go at creative writing, due to teachers being critical of their work. Creative writing should be fun as a hobby or one off, and can be cathartic at that.
Megan works as a web development officer at You’re Welcome, an online inclusive community for Gloucestershire..
